Who I Am
I am a dreamer. I am a photographer. I am a runner. I am happiest when I am outdoors soaking in the sunshine, whether out in the fresh ocean air, between earthy forest walls, far-reaching open fields, or trails I find at my current back door. I have an innate longing to bottle up beauty and experiences to pour them out as joy to others and a remembrance of where I came from. I live in Charlotte, NC with my husband, Brian. You can often find us on long walks trying to keep up with our toddler son, Braxton, or eating piles of watermelon in the backyard. |
Why I Photograph |
Black + White photos and old Ginger Rogers movies - they get me every time.
I dream of stories, wondering what is past a person's exterior. I love listening and witnessing the value felt from knowing where you come from as well as encouraging you of the value you have in this world. I love digging up treasures; to this day, one of the most comforting things for me to do is curl up with an old film or go through loose family photos that never made it into albums. I see strength and love recorded there (see my favorite photo of my grandma and my mom, above). It's authenticating to see what came before me and what shaped my parents' lives. I am a visual person and I believe we have control over our bodies and our wellbeing. Part of this is surrounding ourselves with beauty and inspiration we see every day. I love cultivating this kind of joy by creating photographs. What can I create for you? |
My Background |
I graduated with a BFA in Photography and 4 years of NCAA rowing on the University of Dayton Women's Crew under my belt. Now, as a photographer and a runner, I am not at the top of any running or performance charts. I am no biohacking Superhuman like Ben Greenfield or healthy-living guru like Wellness Mama. I am not a doctor, certified personal trainer, or nutritionist, and although I'd like to, I can't call myself a biohacker either. I don't live in New York City shooting portraits in a fancy studio loft for famous clients.
But, I am an athlete who has heart. My background has greatly impacted my love for capturing other people's hearts in still images. From a young age I have been an adventurer, loving exploration and discovery as simple as digging in my mom's dresser drawers, discovering treasures in the form of my grandma's old silk scarves and costume jewelry. I would flip through old crackly black and white photo albums in the family room and think about the dreamy lives my parent's came from. |
